Requirements for Consideration for Admission

1) GRE score of at least 1000 on the verbal plus quantitative sections.
2) GPA of at least 3.0 in undergraduate upper division coursework.
3) Grade of "B" or better in the appropriate prerequisite coursework (Statistics, Calculus I, Intermediate Micro and Macroeconomics).

While the UF Graduate School has set forth minimum requirements for admission, the final decision to admit and fund is left to the Department. Because our applicant pool is extremely competitive and because there is limited funding, we strongly recommended that applicants exceed the minimum requirements when applying to our program.

We receive many requests from potential applicants asking if their test scores and grades would make them admissible to our program and eligible for funding. Please understand that it is our policy that the decision to admit and fund will not be made before the student applies to the program, submits all required materials to the department and the University Admissions Office, and is ranked along with other applicants by the Admissions committee.

Our application deadline is February 1st each year. The admissions committee meets in early February to determine admission for the fall semester which begins in August. Students are ranked according to a variety of criteria including strength of course content, grades, test scores, and letters of recommendation. Once students are ranked, final decisions will be made and students will be notified. We hope this helps you better understand our application procedures.
