Graduate Research Assistantships and Fellowships

Students have the opportunity to compete for graduate research assistantships and prestigious fellowships, which normally includes a stipend and tuition waiver. Two of the prestigious fellowships available to the most outstanding Ph.D. applicants are the Presidential Fellowship and UF Alumni Fellowship. Presidential Fellowships are limited to US citizens and permanent resident aliens. Alumni Fellowships are open to all students. In addition to waiver of tuition and matriculation fees, these two fellowships include a generous stipend. Awards are based on academic merit and not financial need. Students should note that they must exceed the minimum requirements for admission to be competitive for assistantships and fellowships. The Graduate committee takes into consideration GPA, test scores, strength of courses taken, and letters of recommendation from past and present faculty. Students who apply to the Ph.D. program who are interested in assistantships or fellowships are encouraged to apply for admission and funding by February 1st.
