The MAB is a graduate-level degree that combines the skills needed to be successful in agribusiness with those in specific agricultural fields. The program incorporates case studies, real-world project management, and opportunities for direct interaction with agribusiness professionals, ensuring that students gain valuable, hands-on experience.

Our curriculum complements students’ undergraduate education and business experience by preparing them for a career in private industry, state & federal government, secondary, post-secondary, and professional institutions, and entrepreneurial pursuits in the agricultural and agribusiness sector.

Whether you’re about to graduate with your Bachelor’s degree, are a recent grad, or have been working many years in your industry, the MAB has been designed with a flexible, virtual format to suit your needs and prepare you with the professional skills necessary to take your career in agribusiness to the next level.

Choose Your Track

Our customized tracks allow MAB students to combine their skills in agribusiness with additional professional development in rapidly growing career sectors. In addition to the Core MAB courses, students in these tracks will take three core classes related to their chosen path.

Agricultural Technology (Ag. Tech)

The Ag. Tech track provides students with greater knowledge and application skills in the latest technology applied to agriculture production systems. This includes applications that integrate Artificial Intelligence, decision support systems, and data management.

Applying to the Graduate Program

All applications to the program are done online through the UF Graduate School Application. It is a multi-step process, so please visit our Application Information page to make sure that you meet all of the requirements and follow the instructions to successfully complete the application. Applications that are submitted but are missing any of the required supporting materials by the time the deadline has passed may be unable to be reviewed for a decision. Application decision process takes 4-6 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the online MAB require the GRE?

A: No, GRE scores are not necessary for acceptance into the program.

Q: When can students start the online MAB?

A: The department admits to the MAB in summer B term only.

Q: When will I find out if I am accepted?

A: Once your application is fully complete and has been submitted along with all required supporting materials, the decision process will take approximately 4-6 weeks.

Q: How long does it take to complete the online MAB?

A: The program is 30 credit hours and can be completed in 4 semesters if attending full-time.

Q: I work full-time and cannot take a full course load. Is that okay?

A: Yes. Most of our students are employed and it is perfectly fine to take one or two classes per term.

Q: Will I need to be online at a specific time each week to complete my courses?

A: No. The online MAB is asynchronous, meaning there is no set meeting time. You will need to check your CANVAS regularly to complete and submit assignments, collaborate on projects, and participate in class discussions.

Q: Will I have an opportunity to interact with my peers and professors?

A: Yes. We encourage frequent interaction and collaboration among students and with professors. Our faculty are always willing and ready to assist our students.

Q: Will my diploma state that my program is online?

A: No. Online degrees at UF do not distinguish between on-campus and online degrees. Your diploma will only show your degree “Master of Agribusiness”

Q: What is the tuition cost?

A: While UF Florida resident tuition for graduate students is $530.69 per credit hour, MAB students only pay $484.48/credit hour (or $14,534.40 for the complete 30-credit hour program) because as online students, they are exempt from certain fees. Tuition for non-Florida residents is $1255.41/credit hour.

Q: Is financial assistance available for my program?

A: Scholarship applications in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) and Food and Resource Economics Department (FRED) open in the spring term and are due each April 1^st for award in the fall term. Students who apply to the MAB before the April 1^st scholarship deadline will be given a chance to apply for scholarships. There is also the possibility of financial assistance through student loans. Students should complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and contact the UF Student Financial Aid Office for more information. Applicants who are citizens of a Latin American or Caribbean country may qualify to receive the Latin America-Caribbean Scholarship of $500 per semester, which enables them to qualify as a “resident for tuition purposes”.

Q: Do I need proof of insurance or immunization?

A: No. There is a specific code attached to each MAB student which exempts them from the health insurance and immunization requirements.

Q: Where are graduates of the online MAB employed?

A: Graduates of the MAB program are employed in local, state, and federal government agencies, non-profit agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGO), US and foreign private industry, and US and foreign educational institutions. Their career areas are wide-ranging including budget analysts, pricing consultants, marketing specialists, sales representatives and sales supervisors, production supervisors, farm managers, account specialists, financial advisors, finance and budget directors, legislative analysts, operations officers, contract analysts, underwriters, supply chain managers, buyers and procurement specialists, marketing specialists, human resource directors, compliance officers, broker associates, product development managers. Among our alumni are entrepreneurs, CEOs, COO’s, CFO’s, Presidents and Vice Presidents of industry, teachers, attorneys, police officers, active-duty military, veterinarians, and even a Circuit Court Judge!
